Too Young for Perimenopause? F That.

To everyone still telling women in their late 30s that they’re “too young for perimenopause”…

Nope.
Wrong.
Try again.

You can be 37 and:

  • Bleeding heavier than ever

  • Snapping, crying, spiraling

  • Forgetting words mid-sentence

  • Waking up at 3am wired and sweaty

  • Feeling hot, bloated, puffy, foggy, and not like yourself

And guess what?

  • That’s not “just stress.”

  • That’s not “normal PMS.”

  • And it’s definitely not “too early.”

That’s perimenopause.

It can start as early as 35, and if you’ve had babies, birth control, burnout, or chronic inflammation in the mix, it may show up even sooner.

But most doctors still aren’t trained to spot it early.

They brush it off. Suggest the pill. Or tell you to wait until you're 45 to be taken seriously.

Here’s how to advocate for yourself:

  • Use the word perimenopause in your appointment, even if they roll their eyes

  • Ask for hormone-related testing: estradiol, progesterone, DHEA, thyroid, cortisol

  • Say: “These symptoms are interrupting my life. I’m not here for a band-aid. I want to understand what’s happening and why.”

  • Bring a list. Bring notes. Bring backup if needed.

  • And if they dismiss you? Get a new doctor. Full stop.
