My Doctor Said “That’s Just Aging”, So I Fired Her
I went in because my skin had completely lost its mind.
We’re talking breakouts I hadn’t seen since high school. Dry patches that no serum could fix. Random rashes that made me question if I had suddenly developed an allergy to air.
And do you know what my doctor said?
“Well, that’s just aging.”
Excuse me?
No labs. No questions about my cycle. No discussion about the fact that my symptoms lined up exactly with my luteal phase or that they flared every time I was stressed, underslept, or skipping meals to power through work.
Just a patronizing pat on the head and a reminder to moisturize more.
So I fired her.
Here’s the truth no one is telling you:
Your skin is one of the first places hormone chaos shows up.
It’s your body’s megaphone when something is off.
And when estrogen starts dipping, cortisol spikes, or insulin gets erratic?
Your skin doesn’t age. It reacts.
That dryness? Could be falling estrogen.
The breakouts? Could be cortisol and blood sugar instability.
The redness, rashes, or sudden sensitivity? Could be your nervous system saying I’ve had enough.
But instead of investigating, we get gaslit.
Instead of support, we get serums.
Instead of root cause care, we get brushed off as just hormonal like that’s not worth addressing.
Spoiler: It is.
If you’ve been told your symptoms are just vanity, just hormones, or just normal, I want you to know this:
You’re not making it up.
You’re not overreacting.
And you don’t have to stay quiet about it.
If your skin (or your cycle, or your sanity) is trying to get your attention - I’m here to help you listen.
I offer 1:1 coaching and lab reviews for folks who are done guessing and ready to actually get answers.
You don’t need another cream.
You need someone who believes you.
Let’s make some noise!!
